Kuber Bhandari Temple History

Kuber, the son of Rishi Vishrva, used to rule Lanka. His half-brother Ravanna obtained unbeatable power from Lord Shiva as a blessing. Ravanna asked Kubera to return Lanka to him after he acquired all powers. Kuber gave Lanka to Ravanna and started building his Alkapuri kingdom in the Himalayas. Kuber continued to rule his kingdom, Alkapuri, and travel in the Pushpak viman. But it did not last long. Ravanna attacked him once again, enraged by his wealth. Kubera’s army fought bravely with Ravanna’s army, but was defeated by them. Ravanna drove Kubera out of Lanka and also took away the Pushpak viman. Kubera pleases Lord Shiva once again with his tapasya. Lord Shiva asked him to set up a Shiva temple and please the goddess Amba to be there at the same temple to protect him from other evil. The temple that was set up was the Kuber Bhandari Temple.
