Located 2.5 km from Somnath Railway Station, Gita Mandir Somnath is on the banks of Triveni Sangam. The main deity here is Lord Krishna. This temple is known for its wonderful architecture carved out of white marble.
In Gita Mandir Somnath, you can find Lord Krishna’s footprints carved to mark the memory of Shri Krishna Neejdham Prasthan Leela. The 18 marble pillars have inscriptions of the Bhagavat Gita carved into them.Â
Gita Mandir Somnath is constructed in such a way that one can hear the echo of their voice inside their temple. You can also find the aesthetic paintings of Lord Krishna in the interior walls of the temple.
Gita Mandir Somnath History
Gita Mandir Somnath was built by the Birla Group in 1970. It is believed that the temple was built at the spot where Lord Krishna rested after walking from Bhalka Theerth to Triveni Theerth. It happened after he was hit by an arrow, towards the end of the Dwapara Yuga.
